In this panel we will discuss the possible connections between educational approaches to the Nazi past and educational / political work against racism, antisemitism and extrem right-wing movements. We will ask how we can understand Holocaust Education as political work that is meaningful for the issues of our time and vice versa: How can we address the history of the Nazi rule in a thourough way in the context of educational / social work regarding current racism and antisemitism? We will discuss the urgencies and challenges regarding this attempt with Meron Mendel, director of the Bildungszentrum Anne Frank Frankfurt and MemAct! member Pascal Begrich, from the NGO Miteinander in Saxony-Anhalt. We will base the development of ideas and conclusions on examples of educational practice of these two organisations. The panel will be hosted by Karin Schneider.
