Teaching and learning about the Holocaust in the post liberal society

Abstract

This presentation will consider fundamental challenges that the revival of political nationalism poses for liberal democracy. Are the universal lessons of the Holocaust and the universal values of liberal democracy still self-evident? Drawing upon his research on how young people are radicalized into right wing extremism, Jihadism, and antisemitism, Mattsson will provide insights into how active neo-Nazis prepare their children to withstand democratic education, and ask what this means for teaching and learning about the Holocaust today.
